Kapalabhati ,which means the luminous skull is the cleaning of lungs of stained air
.Forced exhaling rids the depth of the lungs .And place new oxygen
.Which will purify the respiratory system .Movement of the diaphragm ,forces the
stomach ,strengthens the heart and the liver .
How to practice Kapalabhati :
1-Sit down straight cross-legged
,or half lotus .If you are particularly flexible you can perform this
exercise in lotus position .
2-Breath in slowly and steadily
then breath out contacting your abdomen muscles firmly ,lifting the diaphragm and expelling the air from your lungs .
3-Inhale and relax the muscles ,allowing
air to get to your lungs .Again exhale with force .
4-Repeat
this phase about 20 times .
5-Now inhale and exhale in the same way
.But this time keep your breathing as as you can ,before air quits your lungs
.Again repeat this exercise about 20 times .Exhaling must be fast and rigorous
.count to eight when inhaling and to one when exhaling .
Yoga breathing is a fundamental
principle in the practice of yoga .The postures are always associated
with yogic breathing which gives rhythm to them .One does not go without the
other .Without the prana –energy – there would be no yoga As this is brought
by the breath then breathing is important .how ? Breath helps circulate
vital energy in the body providing several benefits for good health .
Till now we have seen the three fundamental breathing techniques , Ujjai ,Aniloma Viloma and Kapalabhati . these techniques have countless effects on health physical , psychic ,emotional and sentimental .
